Key Bene
The value proposition over Microchip’s previous parts (MIC5370, MIC5320) is the size. This is focused for those customers that need perhaps two rails or four rails in a small area. Designers can essentially now put in a 2mm x 2mm area, two of these parts for four channels and four output voltages which results in greater flexibility in their design. It is currently the smallest dual LDO which is the key benefit of these devices. The MIC5380/1 is highly efficient, only consuming 32µA/channel, and is capable to regulate output voltages down to 1.0V. The MIC5381 features the additional output-discharge function. They both only require a small 1µF ceramic 0402 case size output capacitor for stability. Again, the main value is high performance in a small footprint.
