PTCB Electronic Circuit Breaker

Phoenix Contact electronic circuit breakers offer protection against overload and short-circuit protection

Image of Phoenix Contact PTCB 48 V DC Electronic Circuit BreakerPhoenix Contact 48 VDC electronic circuit breakers can be used in a wide range of 48 VDC applications. Its 6.2 mm wide narrow footprint saves space in the control cabinet while delivering reliable protection to critical loads. The 48 VDC version of the PTCB is available in a 1 A to 6 A N/O version and a 2 A fixed version. Both are UL 508 listed and UL 2367 recognized.

PTCB 48 VDC electronic circuit breakers offer protection against overload and short-circuits. These narrow circuit breakers can find space in the most densely populated control cabinets while simultaneously delivering protection. Current settings can be easily adjusted and set on the programmable version. Operating and trip status are indicated via the LED, making it easy to identify the status of the breaker.

Standard terminal blocks and accessories from the CLIPLINE complete line can be used with the PTCBs for bridging to make integration quick and easy by reducing wiring time. In addition, the PTCB circuit breakers can be combined with the 48 VDC QUINT or TRIO power supply units from Phoenix Contact, resulting in a reliable 48 VDC power system.

Precise, intelligent tripping recognizes different loads to provide maximum protection. The multi-stage tripping characteristic with dynamic short-circuit detection is optimized for starting different loads. Note that the trip characteristic on the 48 VDC PTCB is different than the 24 VDC PTCB trip curve.

The 48 VDC PTCB derates as the temperature increases due to the smaller package size and higher power. The input current and output current can differ significantly due to the ability to bridge multiple PTCBs together on the input. Derating can occur individually for either the input or output current.

PTCB 48 VDC electronic circuit breakers can be used in applications where device protection is needed in industries requiring higher power for increasing performance. This can help accomplish faster communication rates, longer runs, more torque, and brighter LEDs. 48 VDC applications are known as the “highest safe voltage,” which makes meeting safety extra low voltage (SELV) requirements easier.
