MIKROE-5980 Silent Step 4 Click board™

MikroElektronika's Silent Step 4 Click compact add-on board is a completely integrated step motor driver solution. This board features the TMC2240, a smart integrated stepper driver from Analog Devices. It supports a peak output current of 3 A per H-bridge, adjustable via software or an onboard resistor, catering to demanding applications. This board stands out for its comprehensive diagnostic features, including overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout, alongside advanced functionalities like motor temperature estimation and driver temperature measurement. A standout feature is the integration of a rotary encoder interface, allowing for real-time consistency checks between encoder positions and external ramp generator positions, enhanced with a 32-bit encoder counter. Its StallGuard2 technology offers the innovative capability to detect motor stalls without external sensors, contributing to a smarter diagnostic system. Communication with the host MCU is made through a four-wire serial peripheral interface (SPI), while the motor control is achieved via simple step and direction inputs.
