LTC4238 Hot Swap Controller

ADI's LTC4238 is a high-voltage, high-current, hot swap controller that allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane. A dual 12 V gate drive is well suited for high power application to either share safe-operating area across parallel MOSFETs or support a 2-stage start-up that first charges the load capacitance followed by enabling a low on-resistance path to the load.

Features

• Drive two gates with configurable parallel, staged start or single MOSFET modes to relax MOSFET requirements and simplify MOSFET selection
• Use FET-bad monitor to continuously assess key MOSFET vital signs to increase reliability and prevent catastrophic failure
• Parallel multiple LTC4238s to address very high-current designs (>3 kW)
